So she named the Lord who spoke to her, “You are El-roi”; for she said, “Have I really seen God and remained alive after seeing him?”


“But will God indeed dwell on the earth? Even heaven and the highest heaven cannot contain you, much less this house that I have built!


But who is able to build him a house, since heaven, even highest heaven, cannot contain him? Who am I to build a house for him, except as a place to make offerings before him?


“But will God indeed reside with mortals on earth? Even heaven and the highest heaven cannot contain you, how much less this house that I have built!


“For his eyes are upon the ways of mortals, and he sees all their steps.


There is no gloom or deep darkness where evildoers may hide themselves.


They think in their heart, “God has forgotten, he has hidden his face, he will never see it.”


Where can I go from your spirit? Or where can I flee from your presence?


If I ascend to heaven, you are there; if I make my bed in Sheol, you are there.


Let them praise the name of the Lord, for his name alone is exalted; his glory is above earth and heaven.


You have set our iniquities before you, our secret sins in the light of your countenance.


The eyes of the Lord are in every place, keeping watch on the evil and the good.


Ha! You who hide a plan too deep for the Lord, whose deeds are in the dark, and who say, “Who sees us? Who knows us?”


For thus says the high and lofty one who inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy: I dwell in the high and holy place, and also with those who are contrite and humble in spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite.


Thus says the Lord: Heaven is my throne and the earth is my footstool; what is the house that you would build for me, and what is my resting place?


For my eyes are on all their ways; they are not hidden from my presence, nor is their iniquity concealed from my sight.


great in counsel and mighty in deed; whose eyes are open to all the ways of mortals, rewarding all according to their ways and according to the fruit of their doings.


But as for me, I have stripped Esau bare, I have uncovered his hiding places, and he is not able to conceal himself. His offspring are destroyed, his kinsfolk and his neighbors; and he is no more.


Then he said to me, “Mortal, have you seen what the elders of the house of Israel are doing in the dark, each in his room of images? For they say, ‘The Lord does not see us, the Lord has forsaken the land.’ ”


He said to me, “The guilt of the house of Israel and Judah is exceedingly great; the land is full of bloodshed and the city full of perversity; for they say, ‘The Lord has forsaken the land, and the Lord does not see.’


He reveals deep and hidden things; he knows what is in the darkness, and light dwells with him.


All the inhabitants of the earth are accounted as nothing, and he does what he wills with the host of heaven and the inhabitants of the earth. There is no one who can stay his hand or say to him, “What are you doing?”


which is his body, the fullness of him who fills all in all.


And before him no creature is hidden, but all are naked and laid bare to the eyes of the one to whom we must render an account.
