For the palace will be forsaken, the populous city deserted; the hill and the watchtower will become dens forever, the joy of wild asses, a pasture for flocks;


a wild ass at home in the wilderness, in her heat sniffing the wind! Who can restrain her lust? None who seek her need weary themselves; in her month they will find her.


Our eyes failed, ever watching vainly for help; we were watching eagerly for a nation that could not save.


Because of this our hearts are sick, because of these things our eyes have grown dim:


How the animals groan! The herds of cattle wander about because there is no pasture for them; even the flocks of sheep are dazed.


Then Jonathan said, “My father has troubled the land; see how my eyes have brightened because I tasted a little of this honey.
