Why do you boast, O mighty one, of mischief done against the godly? All day long


“See the one who would not take refuge in God, but trusted in abundant riches, and sought refuge in wealth!”


Like clouds and wind without rain is one who boasts of a gift never given.


Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring.


You felt secure in your wickedness; you said, “No one sees me.” Your wisdom and your knowledge led you astray, and you said in your heart, “I am, and there is no one besides me.”


Your boasting is not a good thing. Do you not know that a little yeast leavens the whole batch of dough?


But if you have bitter envy and selfish ambition in your hearts, do not be boastful and false to the truth.


for all that is in the world—the desire of the flesh, the desire of the eyes, the pride in riches—comes not from the Father but from the world.
