14 You shall see, and your heart shall rejoice; your bodies shall flourish like the grass; and it shall be known that the hand of the Lord is with his servants, and his indignation is against his enemies.

On the first day of the first month the journey up from Babylon was begun, and on the first day of the fifth month he came to Jerusalem, for the gracious hand of his God was upon him.


Since the gracious hand of our God was upon us, they brought us a man of discretion, of the descendants of Mahli son of Levi son of Israel, namely Sherebiah, with his sons and kin, eighteen;


For I was ashamed to ask the king for a band of soldiers and cavalry to protect us against the enemy on our way, since we had told the king that the hand of our God is gracious to all who seek him, but his power and his wrath are against all who forsake him.


Then we left the river Ahava on the twelfth day of the first month, to go to Jerusalem; the hand of our God was upon us, and he delivered us from the hand of the enemy and from ambushes along the way.


The upright see it and are glad; and all wickedness stops its mouth.


A cheerful heart is a good medicine, but a downcast spirit dries up the bones.


It will be a healing for your flesh and a refreshment for your body.


Ah, Assyria, the rod of my anger— the club in their hands is my fury!


They come from a distant land, from the end of the heavens, the Lord and the weapons of his indignation, to destroy the whole earth.


Your dead shall live, their corpses shall rise. O dwellers in the dust, awake and sing for joy! For your dew is a radiant dew, and the earth will give birth to those long dead.

Look on Zion, the city of our appointed festivals! Your eyes will see Jerusalem, a quiet habitation, an immovable tent, whose stakes will never be pulled up, and none of whose ropes will be broken.


For the Lord is enraged against all the nations, and furious against all their hoards; he has doomed them, has given them over for slaughter.


it shall blossom abundantly, and rejoice with joy and singing. The glory of Lebanon shall be given to it, the majesty of Carmel and Sharon. They shall see the glory of the Lord, the majesty of our God.


so that all may see and know, all may consider and understand, that the hand of the Lord has done this, the Holy One of Israel has created it.


The Lord goes forth like a soldier, like a warrior he stirs up his fury; he cries out, he shouts aloud, he shows himself mighty against his foes.


The Lord will guide you continually, and satisfy your needs in parched places, and make your bones strong; and you shall be like a watered garden, like a spring of water, whose waters never fail.


According to their deeds, so will he repay; wrath to his adversaries, requital to his enemies; to the coastlands he will render requital.


Hear the word of the Lord, you who tremble at his word: Your own people who hate you and reject you for my name's sake have said, “Let the Lord be glorified, so that we may see your joy”; but it is they who shall be put to shame.


Then the people of Ephraim shall become like warriors, and their hearts shall be glad as with wine. Their children shall see it and rejoice, their hearts shall exult in the Lord.


Then once more you shall see the difference between the righteous and the wicked, between one who serves God and one who does not serve him.


So you have pain now; but I will see you again, and your hearts will rejoice, and no one will take your joy from you.


but a fearful prospect of judgment, and a fury of fire that will consume the adversaries.
