The king of Assyria sent the Tartan, the Rabsaris, and the Rabshakeh with a great army from Lachish to King Hezekiah at Jerusalem. They went up and came to Jerusalem. When they arrived, they came and stood by the conduit of the upper pool, which is on the highway to the Fuller's Field.


He trusted in the Lord the God of Israel; so that there was no one like him among all the kings of Judah after him, or among those who were before him.


“Thus shall you speak to King Hezekiah of Judah: Do not let your God on whom you rely deceive you by promising that Jerusalem will not be given into the hand of the king of Assyria.


As with a deadly wound in my body, my adversaries taunt me, while they say to me continually, “Where is your God?”


My tears have been my food day and night, while people say to me continually, “Where is your God?”


Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall.


How can you say, “We are heroes and mighty warriors”?


and the king said, “Is this not magnificent Babylon, which I have built as a royal capital by my mighty power and for my glorious majesty?”


These are grumblers and malcontents; they indulge their own lusts; they are bombastic in speech, flattering people to their own advantage.
