You should also look for able men among all the people, men who fear God, are trustworthy, and hate dishonest gain; set such men over them as officers over thousands, hundreds, fifties and tens.


But Moses said to the Lord, “O my Lord, I have never been eloquent, neither in the past nor even now that you have spoken to your servant; but I am slow of speech and slow of tongue.”


warrior and soldier, judge and prophet, diviner and elder,


And I will make boys their princes, and babes shall rule over them.


Therefore my people go into exile without knowledge; their nobles are dying of hunger, and their multitude is parched with thirst.


elders and dignitaries are the head, and prophets who teach lies are the tail;


So I took the leaders of your tribes, wise and reputable individuals, and installed them as leaders over you, commanders of thousands, commanders of hundreds, commanders of fifties, commanders of tens, and officials, throughout your tribes.
