Is not my house like this with God? For he has made with me an everlasting covenant, ordered in all things and secure. Will he not cause to prosper all my help and my desire?


therefore thus says the Lord, the God of Israel, I am bringing upon Jerusalem and Judah such evil that the ears of everyone who hears of it will tingle.


because they have done what is evil in my sight and have provoked me to anger, since the day their ancestors came out of Egypt, even to this day.”


Manasseh misled Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, so that they did more evil than the nations whom the Lord had destroyed before the people of Israel.


which he confirmed to Jacob as a statute, to Israel as an everlasting covenant,


Fear and trembling come upon me, and horror overwhelms me.


Against a godless nation I send him, and against the people of my wrath I command him, to take spoil and seize plunder, and to tread them down like the mire of the streets.


For they are a rebellious people, faithless children, children who will not hear the instruction of the Lord;


The highways are deserted, travelers have quit the road. The treaty is broken, its oaths are despised, its obligation is disregarded.

They have turned back to the iniquities of their ancestors of old, who refused to heed my words; they have gone after other gods to serve them; the house of Israel and the house of Judah have broken the covenant that I made with their ancestors.


They shall ask the way to Zion, with faces turned toward it, and they shall come and join themselves to the Lord by an everlasting covenant that will never be forgotten.

But at Adam they transgressed the covenant; there they dealt faithlessly with me.

So Joshua made a covenant with the people that day, and made statutes and ordinances for them at Shechem.
