The cities they overturned, and on every good piece of land everyone threw a stone, until it was covered; every spring of water they stopped up, and every good tree they felled. Only at Kir-hareseth did the stone walls remain, until the slingers surrounded and attacked it.


But they shall swoop down on the backs of the Philistines in the west, together they shall plunder the people of the east. They shall put forth their hand against Edom and Moab, and the Ammonites shall obey them.


The oracle concerning Babylon that Isaiah son of Amoz saw.


In the year that King Ahaz died this oracle came:


Therefore my heart throbs like a harp for Moab, and my very soul for Kir-heres.


We have heard of the pride of Moab —how proud he is!— of his arrogance, his pride, and his insolence; his boasts are false.


Therefore let Moab wail, let everyone wail for Moab. Mourn, utterly stricken, for the raisin cakes of Kir-hareseth.


For the hand of the Lord will rest on this mountain. The Moabites shall be trodden down in their place as straw is trodden down in a dung-pit.


The high fortifications of his walls will be brought down, laid low, cast to the ground, even to the dust.
