If you do not know, O fairest among women, follow the tracks of the flock, and pasture your kids beside the shepherds' tents.


“Who then is the faithful and wise slave, whom his master has put in charge of his household, to give the other slaves their allowance of food at the proper time?


And the Lord said, “Who then is the faithful and prudent manager whom his master will put in charge of his slaves, to give them their allowance of food at the proper time?


Once while Jesus was standing beside the lake of Gennesaret, and the crowd was pressing in on him to hear the word of God,


“Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God.


Then both Paul and Barnabas spoke out boldly, saying, “It was necessary that the word of God should be spoken first to you. Since you reject it and judge yourselves to be unworthy of eternal life, we are now turning to the Gentiles.


And after they had appointed elders for them in each church, with prayer and fasting they entrusted them to the Lord in whom they had come to believe.


When they had prayed, the place in which they were gathered together was shaken; and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God with boldness.


So faith comes from what is heard, and what is heard comes through the word of Christ.


No testing has overtaken you that is not common to everyone. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tested beyond your strength, but with the testing he will also provide the way out so that you may be able to endure it.


Be imitators of me, as I am of Christ.


I appeal to you, then, be imitators of me.


Brothers and sisters, join in imitating me, and observe those who live according to the example you have in us.


And you became imitators of us and of the Lord, for in spite of persecution you received the word with joy inspired by the Holy Spirit,


We also constantly give thanks to God for this, that when you received the word of God that you heard from us, you accepted it not as a human word but as what it really is, God's word, which is also at work in you believers.


For you yourselves know how you ought to imitate us; we were not idle when we were with you,


This was not because we do not have that right, but in order to give you an example to imitate.


for if someone does not know how to manage his own household, how can he take care of God's church?


Obey your leaders and submit to them, for they are keeping watch over your souls and will give an account. Let them do this with joy and not with sighing—for that would be harmful to you.


Greet all your leaders and all the saints. Those from Italy send you greetings.


so that you may not become sluggish, but imitators of those who through faith and patience inherit the promises.


Whoever speaks must do so as one speaking the very words of God; whoever serves must do so with the strength that God supplies, so that God may be glorified in all things through Jesus Christ. To him belong the glory and the power forever and ever. Amen.


I, John, your brother who share with you in Jesus the persecution and the kingdom and the patient endurance, was on the island called Patmos because of the word of God and the testimony of Jesus.


Then I saw thrones, and those seated on them were given authority to judge. I also saw the souls of those who had been beheaded for their testimony to Jesus and for the word of God.
