Jacob said to him, “You yourself know how I have served you, and how your cattle have fared with me.


So she gave him her maid Bilhah as a wife; and Jacob went in to her.


Then Rachel said, “God has judged me, and has also heard my voice and given me a son”; therefore she named him Dan.


While Israel lived in that land, Reuben went and lay with Bilhah his father's concubine; and Israel heard of it. Now the sons of Jacob were twelve.


The sons of Bilhah, Rachel's maid: Dan and Naphtali.


(these are the children of Bilhah, whom Laban gave to his daughter Rachel, and these she bore to Jacob—seven persons in all).


These are the sons of Israel: Reuben, Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar, Zebulun,


The descendants of Dan, their lineage, in their clans, by their ancestral houses, according to the number of names, from twenty years old and upward, everyone able to go to war:


These are the names of the men who shall assist you: From Reuben, Elizur son of Shedeur.


Abraham was the father of Isaac, and Isaac the father of Jacob, and Jacob the father of Judah and his brothers,


Then he gave him the covenant of circumcision. And so Abraham became the father of Isaac and circumcised him on the eighth day; and Isaac became the father of Jacob, and Jacob of the twelve patriarchs.
