From there Abraham journeyed toward the region of the Negeb, and settled between Kadesh and Shur. While residing in Gerar as an alien,


Abraham planted a tamarisk tree in Beer-sheba, and called there on the name of the Lord, the Everlasting God.


and came to the fortress of Tyre and to all the cities of the Hivites and Canaanites; and they went out to the Negeb of Judah at Beer-sheba.


Moses sent them to spy out the land of Canaan, and said to them, “Go up there into the Negeb, and go up into the hill country,


So Joshua defeated the whole land, the hill country and the Negeb and the lowland and the slopes, and all their kings; he left no one remaining, but utterly destroyed all that breathed, as the Lord God of Israel commanded.


They shall divide it into seven portions, Judah continuing in its territory on the south, and the house of Joseph in their territory on the north.


When Achish asked, “Against whom have you made a raid today?” David would say, “Against the Negeb of Judah,” or “Against the Negeb of the Jerahmeelites,” or, “Against the Negeb of the Kenites.”
