Hezekiah spoke encouragingly to all the Levites who showed good skill in the service of the Lord. So the people ate the food of the festival for seven days, sacrificing offerings of well-being and giving thanks to the Lord the God of their ancestors.


Then Ezra the priest stood up and said to them, “You have trespassed and married foreign women, and so increased the guilt of Israel.


Then all the assembly answered with a loud voice, “It is so; we must do as you have said.


So now let us make a covenant with our God to send away all these wives and their children, according to the counsel of my lord and of those who tremble at the commandment of our God; and let it be done according to the law.


After these things had been done, the officials approached me and said, “The people of Israel, the priests, and the Levites have not separated themselves from the peoples of the lands with their abominations, from the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Jebusites, the Ammonites, the Moabites, the Egyptians, and the Amorites.


When the people heard the law, they separated from Israel all those of foreign descent.


Then those of Israelite descent separated themselves from all foreigners, and stood and confessed their sins and the iniquities of their ancestors.


Then I acknowledged my sin to you, and I did not hide my iniquity; I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the Lord,” and you forgave the guilt of my sin. Selah


No one who conceals transgressions will prosper, but one who confesses and forsakes them will obtain mercy.


For thus says the Lord: To the eunuchs who keep my sabbaths, who choose the things that please me and hold fast my covenant,


Only acknowledge your guilt, that you have rebelled against the Lord your God, and scattered your favors among strangers under every green tree, and have not obeyed my voice, says the Lord.


Thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: Amend your ways and your doings, and let me dwell with you in this place.


Therefore I will judge you, O house of Israel, all of you according to your ways, says the Lord God. Repent and turn from all your transgressions; otherwise iniquity will be your ruin.


So for the second time they called the man who had been blind, and they said to him, “Give glory to God! We know that this man is a sinner.”


Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your minds, so that you may discern what is the will of God—what is good and acceptable and perfect.


Therefore come out from them, and be separate from them, says the Lord, and touch nothing unclean; then I will welcome you,


so that you may lead lives worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him, as you bear fruit in every good work and as you grow in the knowledge of God.


make you complete in everything good so that you may do his will, working among us that which is pleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be the glory forever and ever. Amen.


Then Joshua said to Achan, “My son, give glory to the Lord God of Israel and make confession to him. Tell me now what you have done; do not hide it from me.”
