A ruler who lacks understanding is a cruel oppressor; but one who hates unjust gain will enjoy a long life.


But your eyes and heart are only on your dishonest gain, for shedding innocent blood, and for practicing oppression and violence.


The days are surely coming, says the Lord, when I will raise up for David a righteous Branch, and he shall reign as king and deal wisely, and shall execute justice and righteousness in the land.


She raised up one of her cubs; he became a young lion, and he learned to catch prey; he devoured humans.


And he ravaged their strongholds, and laid waste their towns; the land was appalled, and all in it, at the sound of his roaring.


Its officials within it are like wolves tearing the prey, shedding blood, destroying lives to get dishonest gain.


The princes of Israel in you, everyone according to his power, have been bent on shedding blood.


The prince shall not take any of the inheritance of the people, thrusting them out of their holding; he shall give his sons their inheritance out of his own holding, so that none of my people shall be dispossessed of their holding.

But you have dishonored the poor. Is it not the rich who oppress you? Is it not they who drag you into court?


So Joshua took the whole land, according to all that the Lord had spoken to Moses; and Joshua gave it for an inheritance to Israel according to their tribal allotments. And the land had rest from war.


When they had finished distributing the several territories of the land as inheritances, the Israelites gave an inheritance among them to Joshua son of Nun.
