See, you are relying now on Egypt, that broken reed of a staff, which will pierce the hand of anyone who leans on it. Such is Pharaoh king of Egypt to all who rely on him.


How then can you repulse a single captain among the least of my master's servants, when you rely on Egypt for chariots and for horsemen?


And the Egyptians shall know that I am the Lord, when I have gained glory for myself over Pharaoh, his chariots, and his chariot drivers.”


For this time I will send all my plagues upon you yourself, and upon your officials, and upon your people, so that you may know that there is no one like me in all the earth.


See, you are relying on Egypt, that broken reed of a staff, which will pierce the hand of anyone who leans on it. Such is Pharaoh king of Egypt to all who rely on him.


How lightly you gad about, changing your ways! You shall be put to shame by Egypt as you were put to shame by Assyria.


Our eyes failed, ever watching vainly for help; we were watching eagerly for a nation that could not save.


Pharaoh with his mighty army and great company will not help him in war, when ramps are cast up and siege walls built to cut off many lives.


They shall live in safety in it, and shall build houses and plant vineyards. They shall live in safety, when I execute judgments upon all their neighbors who have treated them with contempt. And they shall know that I am the Lord their God.


The Egyptians shall never again be the reliance of the house of Israel; they will recall their iniquity, when they turned to them for aid. Then they shall know that I am the Lord God.


Then they shall know that I am the Lord, when I have set fire to Egypt, and all who help it are broken.
