Then the anger of the Lord was kindled against his people, and he abhorred his heritage;


When God heard, he was full of wrath, and he utterly rejected Israel.


The look on their faces bears witness against them; they proclaim their sin like Sodom, they do not hide it. Woe to them! For they have brought evil on themselves.


Behind the door and the doorpost you have set up your symbol; for, in deserting me, you have uncovered your bed, you have gone up to it, you have made it wide; and you have made a bargain for yourself with them, you have loved their bed, you have gazed on their nakedness.


My heritage has become to me like a lion in the forest; she has lifted up her voice against me— therefore I hate her.


Then the Lord said to me: Though Moses and Samuel stood before me, yet my heart would not turn toward this people. Send them out of my sight, and let them go!


Take warning, O Jerusalem, or I shall turn from you in disgust, and make you a desolation, an uninhabited land.


They acted shamefully, they committed abomination; yet they were not at all ashamed, they did not know how to blush. Therefore they shall fall among those who fall; at the time when I punish them, they shall be overthrown, says the Lord.


The Lord has scorned his altar, disowned his sanctuary; he has delivered into the hand of the enemy the walls of her palaces; a clamor was raised in the house of the Lord as on a day of festival.


Thus says the Lord God, Because your lust was poured out and your nakedness uncovered in your whoring with your lovers, and because of all your abominable idols, and because of the blood of your children that you gave to them,


Therefore thus says the Lord God: Because you have brought your guilt to remembrance, in that your transgressions are uncovered, so that in all your deeds your sins appear—because you have come to remembrance, you shall be taken in hand.


These uncovered her nakedness; they seized her sons and her daughters; and they killed her with the sword. Judgment was executed upon her, and she became a byword among women.


Yet she increased her whorings, remembering the days of her youth, when she played the whore in the land of Egypt


Therefore I delivered her into the hands of her lovers, into the hands of the Assyrians, for whom she lusted.


Plead with your mother, plead— for she is not my wife, and I am not her husband— that she put away her whoring from her face, and her adultery from between her breasts,


when I would heal Israel, the corruption of Ephraim is revealed, and the wicked deeds of Samaria; for they deal falsely, the thief breaks in, and the bandits raid outside.


I hate, I despise your festivals, and I take no delight in your solemn assemblies.


The Lord God has sworn by himself (says the Lord, the God of hosts): I abhor the pride of Jacob and hate his strongholds; and I will deliver up the city and all that is in it.


In one month I disposed of the three shepherds, for I had become impatient with them, and they also detested me.


The Lord saw it, and was jealous he spurned his sons and daughters.
