Far be it from you to do such a thing, to slay the righteous with the wicked, so that the righteous fare as the wicked! Far be that from you! Shall not the Judge of all the earth do what is just?”


so that you turn your spirit against God, and let such words go out of your mouth?


Then Elihu son of Barachel the Buzite, of the family of Ram, became angry. He was angry at Job because he justified himself rather than God;


“Do you think this to be just? You say, ‘I am in the right before God.’


Will you even put me in the wrong? Will you condemn me that you may be justified?


The Lord is just in all his ways, and kind in all his doings.


These things you have done and I have been silent; you thought that I was one just like yourself. But now I rebuke you, and lay the charge before you.


The heavens declare his righteousness, for God himself is judge. Selah


One's own folly leads to ruin, yet the heart rages against the Lord.


You will be in the right, O Lord, when I lay charges against you; but let me put my case to you. Why does the way of the guilty prosper? Why do all who are treacherous thrive?


When the righteous turn away from their righteousness and commit iniquity, they shall die for it; for the iniquity that they have committed they shall die.


Yet the house of Israel says, “The way of the Lord is unfair.” O house of Israel, are my ways unfair? Is it not your ways that are unfair?


Yet your people say, “The way of the Lord is not just,” when it is their own way that is not just.


Yet you say, “The way of the Lord is not just.” O house of Israel, I will judge all of you according to your ways!


The Lord within it is righteous; he does no wrong. Every morning he renders his judgment, each dawn without fail; but the unjust knows no shame.


You have wearied the Lord with your words. Yet you say, “How have we wearied him?” By saying, “All who do evil are good in the sight of the Lord, and he delights in them.” Or by asking, “Where is the God of justice?”


For, being ignorant of the righteousness that comes from God, and seeking to establish their own, they have not submitted to God's righteousness.


For “no human being will be justified in his sight” by deeds prescribed by the law, for through the law comes the knowledge of sin.


But if our injustice serves to confirm the justice of God, what should we say? That God is unjust to inflict wrath on us? (I speak in a human way.)


But who indeed are you, a human being, to argue with God? Will what is molded say to the one who molds it, “Why have you made me like this?”


The Rock, his work is perfect, and all his ways are just. A faithful God, without deceit, just and upright is he;
