Then Jacob kissed Rachel, and wept aloud.


He got up, and ate and drank; then he went in the strength of that food forty days and forty nights to Horeb the mount of God.


He sent his servant Moses, and Aaron whom he had chosen.


Jethro, Moses' father-in-law, came into the wilderness where Moses was encamped at the mountain of God, bringing Moses' sons and wife to him.


Moses went out to meet his father-in-law; he bowed down and kissed him; each asked after the other's welfare, and they went into the tent.


Then Moses went up to God; the Lord called to him from the mountain, saying, “Thus you shall say to the house of Jacob, and tell the Israelites:


When all the people witnessed the thunder and lightning, the sound of the trumpet, and the mountain smoking, they were afraid and trembled and stood at a distance,


So Moses set out with his assistant Joshua, and Moses went up into the mountain of God.


Moses was keeping the flock of his father-in-law Jethro, the priest of Midian; he led his flock beyond the wilderness, and came to Horeb, the mountain of God.


So he let him alone. It was then she said, “A bridegroom of blood by circumcision.”


Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their toil.


Now get up, go down, and go with them without hesitation; for I have sent them.”
