He said to the Levites who taught all Israel and who were holy to the Lord, “Put the holy ark in the house that Solomon son of David, king of Israel, built; you need no longer carry it on your shoulders. Now serve the Lord your God and his people Israel.


The sons of Levi did as Moses commanded, and about three thousand of the people fell on that day.


On the next day Moses said to the people, “You have sinned a great sin. But now I will go up to the Lord; perhaps I can make atonement for your sin.”


To do righteousness and justice is more acceptable to the Lord than sacrifice.


And if any prophets appear again, their fathers and mothers who bore them will say to them, “You shall not live, for you speak lies in the name of the Lord”; and their fathers and their mothers who bore them shall pierce them through when they prophesy.


Whoever loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; and whoever loves son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me;
