When King David came to Bahurim, a man of the family of the house of Saul came out whose name was Shimei son of Gera; he came out cursing.


Then Abishai son of Zeruiah said to the king, “Why should this dead dog curse my lord the king? Let me go over and take off his head.”


Abishai son of Zeruiah answered, “Shall not Shimei be put to death for this, because he cursed the Lord's anointed?”


seat two scoundrels opposite him, and have them bring a charge against him, saying, ‘You have cursed God and the king.’ Then take him out, and stone him to death.”


I give you thanks, O Lord, with my whole heart; before the gods I sing your praise;


Therefore let all who are faithful offer prayer to you; at a time of distress, the rush of mighty waters shall not reach them.


you shall set apart to the Lord all that first opens the womb. All the firstborn of your livestock that are males shall be the Lord's.


Consecrate to me all the firstborn; whatever is the first to open the womb among the Israelites, of human beings and animals, is mine.


Whoever curses father or mother shall be put to death.


You shall observe the festival of harvest, of the first fruits of your labor, of what you sow in the field. You shall observe the festival of ingathering at the end of the year, when you gather in from the field the fruit of your labor.


The choicest of the first fruits of your ground you shall bring into the house of the Lord your God. You shall not boil a kid in its mother's milk.


Do not curse the king, even in your thoughts, or curse the rich, even in your bedroom; for a bird of the air may carry your voice, or some winged creature tell the matter.


The Israelite woman's son blasphemed the Name in a curse. And they brought him to Moses—now his mother's name was Shelomith, daughter of Dibri, of the tribe of Dan—


And speak to the people of Israel, saying: Anyone who curses God shall bear the sin.


One who blasphemes the name of the Lord shall be put to death; the whole congregation shall stone the blasphemer. Aliens as well as citizens, when they blaspheme the Name, shall be put to death.


At this Paul said to him, “God will strike you, you whitewashed wall! Are you sitting there to judge me according to the law, and yet in violation of the law you order me to be struck?”


And Paul said, “I did not realize, brothers, that he was high priest; for it is written, ‘You shall not speak evil of a leader of your people.’ ”


Honor everyone. Love the family of believers. Fear God. Honor the emperor.

Yet in the same way these dreamers also defile the flesh, reject authority, and slander the glorious ones.


This very day your eyes have seen how the Lord gave you into my hand in the cave; and some urged me to kill you, but I spared you. I said, ‘I will not raise my hand against my lord; for he is the Lord's anointed.’


He said to his men, “The Lord forbid that I should do this thing to my lord, the Lord's anointed, to raise my hand against him; for he is the Lord's anointed.”


But David said to Abishai, “Do not destroy him; for who can raise his hand against the Lord's anointed, and be guiltless?”
