The next day Moses sat as judge for the people, while the people stood around him from morning until evening.


Moses said to his father-in-law, “Because the people come to me to inquire of God.


And they judged the people at all times; hard cases they brought to Moses, but any minor case they decided themselves.


They put him in custody, because it was not clear what should be done to him.


The descendants of Hobab the Kenite, Moses' father-in-law, went up with the people of Judah from the city of palms into the wilderness of Judah, which lies in the Negeb near Arad. Then they went and settled with the Amalekites.
