They would not listen but were stubborn, as their ancestors had been, who did not believe in the Lord their God.


They despised his statutes, and his covenant that he made with their ancestors, and the warnings that he gave them. They went after false idols and became false; they followed the nations that were around them, concerning whom the Lord had commanded them that they should not do as they did.


But they soon forgot his works; they did not wait for his counsel.


They did not keep God's covenant, but refused to walk according to his law.


because they had no faith in God, and did not trust his saving power.


So Moses and Aaron went to Pharaoh, and said to him, “Thus says the Lord, the God of the Hebrews, ‘How long will you refuse to humble yourself before me? Let my people go, so that they may worship me.


On the seventh day some of the people went out to gather, and they found none.


See! The Lord has given you the sabbath, therefore on the sixth day he gives you food for two days; each of you stay where you are; do not leave your place on the seventh day.”


Then Isaiah said: “Hear then, O house of David! Is it too little for you to weary mortals, that you weary my God also?

And the Lord said to Moses, “How long will this people despise me? And how long will they refuse to believe in me, in spite of all the signs that I have done among them?


But the Lord said to Moses and Aaron, “Because you did not trust in me, to show my holiness before the eyes of the Israelites, therefore you shall not bring this assembly into the land that I have given them.”


He answered them, “You faithless generation, how much longer must I be among you? How much longer must I put up with you? Bring him to me.”
