Then seven ears, thin and blighted by the east wind, sprouted after them.


He spoke, and the locusts came, and young locusts without number;


fire and hail, snow and frost, stormy wind fulfilling his command!


He caused the east wind to blow in the heavens, and by his power he led out the south wind;


He gave their crops to the caterpillar, and the fruit of their labor to the locust.


Then Moses stretched out his hand over the sea. The Lord drove the sea back by a strong east wind all night, and turned the sea into dry land; and the waters were divided.


the locusts have no king, yet all of them march in rank;


But the Lord hurled a great wind upon the sea, and such a mighty storm came upon the sea that the ship threatened to break up.


When the sun rose, God prepared a sultry east wind, and the sun beat down on the head of Jonah so that he was faint and asked that he might die. He said, “It is better for me to die than to live.”


They were amazed, saying, “What sort of man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey him?”
