Then he called for his son Solomon and charged him to build a house for the Lord, the God of Israel.


David said further to his son Solomon, “Be strong and of good courage, and act. Do not be afraid or dismayed; for the Lord God, my God, is with you. He will not fail you or forsake you, until all the work for the service of the house of the Lord is finished.


The law indeed was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.


Our ancestors in turn brought it in with Joshua when they dispossessed the nations that God drove out before our ancestors. And it was there until the time of David,


Even with me the Lord was angry on your account, saying, “You also shall not enter there.


Joshua son of Nun, your assistant, shall enter there; encourage him, for he is the one who will secure Israel's possession of it.


Then the Lord commissioned Joshua son of Nun and said, “Be strong and bold, for you shall bring the Israelites into the land that I promised them; I will be with you.”


The Lord your God himself will cross over before you. He will destroy these nations before you, and you shall dispossess them. Joshua also will cross over before you, as the Lord promised.


Then Moses summoned Joshua and said to him in the sight of all Israel: “Be strong and bold, for you are the one who will go with this people into the land that the Lord has sworn to their ancestors to give them; and you will put them in possession of it.


For if Joshua had given them rest, God would not speak later about another day.


“My servant Moses is dead. Now proceed to cross the Jordan, you and all this people, into the land that I am giving to them, to the Israelites.
