for Herod feared John, knowing that he was a righteous and holy man, and he protected him. When he heard him, he was greatly perplexed; and yet he liked to listen to him.


He was trying to see who Jesus was, but on account of the crowd he could not, because he was short in stature.


When Herod saw Jesus, he was very glad, for he had been wanting to see him for a long time, because he had heard about him and was hoping to see him perform some sign.


They answered, “Believe on the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household.”


as I testified to both Jews and Greeks about repentance toward God and faith toward our Lord Jesus.


And as he discussed justice, self-control, and the coming judgment, Felix became frightened and said, “Go away for the present; when I have an opportunity, I will send for you.”


To this day I have had help from God, and so I stand here, testifying to both small and great, saying nothing but what the prophets and Moses said would take place:


yet we know that a person is justified not by the works of the law but through faith in Jesus Christ. And we have come to believe in Christ Jesus, so that we might be justified by faith in Christ, and not by doing the works of the law, because no one will be justified by the works of the law.


and it is no longer I who live, but it is Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.


The only thing I want to learn from you is this: Did you receive the Spirit by doing the works of the law or by believing what you heard?


Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ has been born of God, and everyone who loves the parent loves the child.


Beloved, while eagerly preparing to write to you about the salvation we share, I find it necessary to write and appeal to you to contend for the faith that was once for all entrusted to the saints.


Here is a call for the endurance of the saints, those who keep the commandments of God and hold fast to the faith of Jesus.
