So the soldiers, their officer, and the Jewish police arrested Jesus and bound him.


Then all of them seized Sosthenes, the official of the synagogue, and beat him in front of the tribunal. But Gallio paid no attention to any of these things.


And I said, ‘Lord, they themselves know that in every synagogue I imprisoned and beat those who believed in you.


This man was seized by the Jews and was about to be killed by them, but when I had learned that he was a Roman citizen, I came with the guard and rescued him.


He even tried to profane the temple, and so we seized him.


and when they had called in the apostles, they had them flogged. Then they ordered them not to speak in the name of Jesus, and let them go.
