“Artaxerxes, king of kings, to the priest Ezra, the scribe of the law of the God of heaven: Peace. And now


this Ezra went up from Babylonia. He was a scribe skilled in the law of Moses that the Lord the God of Israel had given; and the king granted him all that he asked, for the hand of the Lord his God was upon him.


But Moses said to the Lord, “O my Lord, I have never been eloquent, neither in the past nor even now that you have spoken to your servant; but I am slow of speech and slow of tongue.”

When they reached Ephesus, he left them there, but first he himself went into the synagogue and had a discussion with the Jews.


but on taking leave of them, he said, “I will return to you, if God wills.” Then he set sail from Ephesus.


for he powerfully refuted the Jews in public, showing by the scriptures that the Messiah is Jesus.


While Apollos was in Corinth, Paul passed through the interior regions and came to Ephesus, where he found some disciples.


There the centurion found an Alexandrian ship bound for Italy and put us on board.


Then some of those who belonged to the synagogue of the Freedmen (as it was called), Cyrenians, Alexandrians, and others of those from Cilicia and Asia, stood up and argued with Stephen.


So Moses was instructed in all the wisdom of the Egyptians and was powerful in his words and deeds.


What I mean is that each of you says, “I belong to Paul,” or “I belong to Apollos,” or “I belong to Cephas,” or “I belong to Christ.”


Now concerning our brother Apollos, I strongly urged him to visit you with the other brothers, but he was not at all willing to come now. He will come when he has the opportunity.


I have applied all this to Apollos and myself for your benefit, brothers and sisters, so that you may learn through us the meaning of the saying, “Nothing beyond what is written,” so that none of you will be puffed up in favor of one against another.


For they say, “His letters are weighty and strong, but his bodily presence is weak, and his speech contemptible.”


Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly; teach and admonish one another in all wisdom; and with gratitude in your hearts sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs to God.


Make every effort to send Zenas the lawyer and Apollos on their way, and see that they lack nothing.
