as though I grieved for a friend or a brother; I went about as one who laments for a mother, bowed down and in mourning.


if I have repaid my ally with harm or plundered my foe without cause,


but those who miss me injure themselves; all who hate me love death.”


Do not be too wicked, and do not be a fool; why should you die before your time?


You shall not take vengeance or bear a grudge against any of your people, but you shall love your neighbor as yourself: I am the Lord.


But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you,


But Jesus said, “No more of this!” And he touched his ear and healed him.


Then Jesus said, “Father, forgive them; for they do not know what they are doing.”] And they cast lots to divide his clothing.


When the jailer woke up and saw the prison doors wide open, he drew his sword and was about to kill himself, since he supposed that the prisoners had escaped.


The jailer called for lights, and rushing in, he fell down trembling before Paul and Silas.


See that none of you repays evil for evil, but always seek to do good to one another and to all.
