Even though you intended to do harm to me, God intended it for good, in order to preserve a numerous people, as he is doing today.


Jesus answered them, “You are wrong, because you know neither the scriptures nor the power of God.


Jesus said, “I tell you, Peter, the cock will not crow this day, until you have denied three times that you know me.”


Pilate then called together the chief priests, the leaders, and the people,


and how our chief priests and leaders handed him over to be condemned to death and crucified him.


But they will do all these things to you on account of my name, because they do not know him who sent me.


And they will do this because they have not known the Father or me.


“You search the scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; and it is they that testify on my behalf.


So Jesus said, “When you have lifted up the Son of Man, then you will realize that I am he, and that I do nothing on my own, but I speak these things as the Father instructed me.


For in every city, for generations past, Moses has had those who proclaim him, for he has been read aloud every sabbath in the synagogues.”


After they had set a day to meet with him, they came to him at his lodgings in great numbers. From morning until evening he explained the matter to them, testifying to the kingdom of God and trying to convince them about Jesus both from the law of Moses and from the prophets.


“And now, friends, I know that you acted in ignorance, as did also your rulers.


So that you may not claim to be wiser than you are, brothers and sisters, I want you to understand this mystery: a hardening has come upon part of Israel, until the full number of the Gentiles has come in.


None of the rulers of this age understood this; for if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.


But their minds were hardened. Indeed, to this very day, when they hear the reading of the old covenant, that same veil is still there, since only in Christ is it set aside.


In their case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.


even though I was formerly a blasphemer, a persecutor, and a man of violence. But I received mercy because I had acted ignorantly in unbelief,
