Now when the centurion and those with him, who were keeping watch over Jesus, saw the earthquake and what took place, they were terrified and said, “Truly this man was God's Son!”


All spoke well of him and were amazed at the gracious words that came from his mouth. They said, “Is not this Joseph's son?”


Fear seized all of them; and they glorified God, saying, “A great prophet has risen among us!” and “God has looked favorably on his people!”


The police answered, “Never has anyone spoken like this!”


When the Gentiles heard this, they were glad and praised the word of the Lord; and as many as had been destined for eternal life became believers.


Thus the word of the Lord spread throughout the region.


He was with the proconsul, Sergius Paulus, an intelligent man, who summoned Barnabas and Saul and wanted to hear the word of God.


But the magician Elymas (for that is the translation of his name) opposed them and tried to turn the proconsul away from the faith.


But Paul and Barnabas remained in Antioch, and there, with many others, they taught and proclaimed the word of the Lord.


After some days Paul said to Barnabas, “Come, let us return and visit the believers in every city where we proclaimed the word of the Lord and see how they are doing.”


But when Gallio was proconsul of Achaia, the Jews made a united attack on Paul and brought him before the tribunal.


This continued for two years, so that all the residents of Asia, both Jews and Greeks, heard the word of the Lord.


So the word of the Lord grew mightily and prevailed.


If therefore Demetrius and the artisans with him have a complaint against anyone, the courts are open, and there are proconsuls; let them bring charges there against one another.


altogether there were about twelve of them.
