Ephraim herds the wind, and pursues the east wind all day long; they multiply falsehood and violence; they make a treaty with Assyria, and oil is carried to Egypt.


Do not be deceived: “Bad company ruins good morals.”


Your boasting is not a good thing. Do you not know that a little yeast leavens the whole batch of dough?


This means understanding that the law is laid down not for the innocent but for the lawless and disobedient, for the godless and sinful, for the unholy and profane, for those who kill their father or mother, for murderers,


Have nothing to do with profane myths and old wives' tales. Train yourself in godliness,


Timothy, guard what has been entrusted to you. Avoid the profane chatter and contradictions of what is falsely called knowledge;


Remind them of this, and warn them before God that they are to avoid wrangling over words, which does no good but only ruins those who are listening.


All who cleanse themselves of the things I have mentioned will become special utensils, dedicated and useful to the owner of the house, ready for every good work.


But wicked people and impostors will go from bad to worse, deceiving others and being deceived.


they must be silenced, since they are upsetting whole families by teaching for sordid gain what it is not right to teach.


not paying attention to Jewish myths or to commandments of those who reject the truth.


But avoid stupid controversies, genealogies, dissensions, and quarrels about the law, for they are unprofitable and worthless.


See to it that no one fails to obtain the grace of God; that no root of bitterness springs up and causes trouble, and through it many become defiled.


For they speak bombastic nonsense, and with licentious desires of the flesh they entice people who have just escaped from those who live in error.


Even so, many will follow their licentious ways, and because of these teachers the way of truth will be maligned.


and by the signs that it is allowed to perform on behalf of the beast, it deceives the inhabitants of earth, telling them to make an image for the beast that had been wounded by the sword and yet lived;


One of its heads seemed to have received a death-blow, but its mortal wound had been healed. In amazement the whole earth followed the beast.
