The Philistines went to war again with Israel, and David went down together with his servants. They fought against the Philistines, and David grew weary.


Towards the beginning of harvest three of the thirty chiefs went down to join David at the cave of Adullam, while a band of Philistines was encamped in the valley of Rephaim.


Now the Philistines had come and spread out in the valley of Rephaim.


Then the prophet approached the king of Israel and said to him, “Come, strengthen yourself, and consider well what you have to do; for in the spring the king of Aram will come up against you.”


Once again the Philistines made a raid in the valley.


And it shall be as when reapers gather standing grain and their arms harvest the ears, and as when one gleans the ears of grain in the Valley of Rephaim.
