When they were at the large stone that is in Gibeon, Amasa came to meet them. Now Joab was wearing a soldier's garment and over it was a belt with a sword in its sheath fastened at his waist; as he went forward it fell out.


If someone is burdened with the blood of another, let that killer be a fugitive until death; let no one offer assistance.


The avenger of blood is the one who shall put the murderer to death; when they meet, the avenger of blood shall execute the sentence.


When the natives saw the creature hanging from his hand, they said to one another, “This man must be a murderer; though he has escaped from the sea, justice has not allowed him to live.”
