So Zadok and Abiathar carried the ark of God back to Jerusalem, and they remained there.


Joab said, “I will not waste time like this with you.” He took three spears in his hand, and thrust them into the heart of Absalom, while he was still alive in the oak.


And ten young men, Joab's armor-bearers, surrounded Absalom and struck him, and killed him.


But Absalom, whom we anointed over us, is dead in battle. Now therefore why do you say nothing about bringing the king back?”


Then all the people of Israel came to the king, and said to him, “Why have our kindred the people of Judah stolen you away, and brought the king and his household over the Jordan, and all David's men with him?”


The king put Benaiah son of Jehoiada over the army in his place, and the king put the priest Zadok in the place of Abiathar.


In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven.


So we are ambassadors for Christ, since God is making his appeal through us; we entreat you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.


This was not because we do not have that right, but in order to give you an example to imitate.
