Yes, we do have confidence, and we would rather be away from the body and at home with the Lord.


It is right for me to think this way about all of you, because you hold me in your heart, for all of you share in God's grace with me, both in my imprisonment and in the defense and confirmation of the gospel.


I want to know Christ and the power of his resurrection and the sharing of his sufferings by becoming like him in his death,


For this reason I remind you to rekindle the gift of God that is within you through the laying on of my hands;


Remember those who are in prison, as though you were in prison with them; those who are being tortured, as though you yourselves were being tortured.


Therefore I intend to keep on reminding you of these things, though you know them already and are established in the truth that has come to you.


since I know that my death will come soon, as indeed our Lord Jesus Christ has made clear to me.


This is now, beloved, the second letter I am writing to you; in them I am trying to arouse your sincere intention by reminding you
