Then he said, “Do it a second time”; and they did it a second time. Again he said, “Do it a third time”; and they did it a third time,


So you will find favor and good repute in the sight of God and of people.


They do all their deeds to be seen by others; for they make their phylacteries broad and their fringes long.


In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven.


“Beware of practicing your piety before others in order to be seen by them; for then you have no reward from your Father in heaven.


so that your alms may be done in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you.


Do not repay anyone evil for evil, but take thought for what is noble in the sight of all.


The one who thus serves Christ is acceptable to God and has human approval.


For we are not peddlers of God's word like so many; but in Christ we speak as persons of sincerity, as persons sent from God and standing in his presence.


We intend that no one should blame us about this generous gift that we are administering,


And with them we are sending our brother whom we have often tested and found eager in many matters, but who is now more eager than ever because of his great confidence in you.


Finally, beloved, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is pleasing, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence and if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.


Moreover, he must be well thought of by outsiders, so that he may not fall into disgrace and the snare of the devil.


So I would have younger widows marry, bear children, and manage their households, so as to give the adversary no occasion to revile us.


Conduct yourselves honorably among the Gentiles, so that, though they malign you as evildoers, they may see your honorable deeds and glorify God when he comes to judge.
