Moreover from the time that I was appointed to be their governor in the land of Judah, from the twentieth year to the thirty-second year of King Artaxerxes, twelve years, neither I nor my brothers ate the food allowance of the governor.


Moses was very angry and said to the Lord, “Pay no attention to their offering. I have not taken one donkey from them, and I have not harmed any one of them.”


and likewise the ancestor of the circumcised who are not only circumcised but who also follow the example of the faith that our ancestor Abraham had before he was circumcised.


What would you prefer? Am I to come to you with a stick, or with love in a spirit of gentleness?


Make room in your hearts for us; we have wronged no one, we have corrupted no one, we have taken advantage of no one.


But God, who consoles the downcast, consoled us by the arrival of Titus,


so that we might urge Titus that, as he had already made a beginning, so he should also complete this generous undertaking among you.


For to this you have been called, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, so that you should follow in his steps.
