You know for yourselves that I worked with my own hands to support myself and my companions.


Paul, a servant of Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle, set apart for the gospel of God,


If others share this rightful claim on you, do not we still more? Nevertheless, we have not made use of this right, but we endure anything rather than put an obstacle in the way of the gospel of Christ.


Or is it only Barnabas and I who have no right to refrain from working for a living?


I myself, Paul, appeal to you by the meekness and gentleness of Christ—I who am humble when face to face with you, but bold toward you when I am away!—


so that we may proclaim the good news in lands beyond you, without boasting of work already done in someone else's sphere of action.


How have you been worse off than the other churches, except that I myself did not burden you? Forgive me this wrong!


When I came to Troas to proclaim the good news of Christ, a door was opened for me in the Lord;
