So Abraham called that place “The Lord will provide”; as it is said to this day, “On the mount of the Lord it shall be provided.”


He said, “Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains that I shall show you.”


But when the angel stretched out his hand toward Jerusalem to destroy it, the Lord relented concerning the evil, and said to the angel who was bringing destruction among the people, “It is enough; now stay your hand.” The angel of the Lord was then by the threshing floor of Araunah the Jebusite.


Then the angel of the Lord commanded Gad to tell David that he should go up and erect an altar to the Lord on the threshing floor of Ornan the Jebusite.


Then David said, “Here shall be the house of the Lord God and here the altar of burnt offering for Israel.”


and Johanan of Azariah (it was he who served as priest in the house that Solomon built in Jerusalem).


He began to build on the second day of the second month of the fourth year of his reign.


But it was Solomon who built a house for him.
