His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and trustworthy slave; you have been trustworthy in a few things, I will put you in charge of many things; enter into the joy of your master.’


He said to him, ‘Well done, good slave! Because you have been trustworthy in a very small thing, take charge of ten cities.’


When Paul came to the steps, the violence of the mob was so great that he had to be carried by the soldiers.


And all who sat in the council looked intently at him, and they saw that his face was like the face of an angel.


What they said pleased the whole community, and they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and the Holy Spirit, together with Philip, Prochorus, Nicanor, Timon, Parmenas, and Nicolaus, a proselyte of Antioch.


Stephen, full of grace and power, did great wonders and signs among the people.


Now, brothers and sisters, you know that members of the household of Stephanas were the first converts in Achaia, and they have devoted themselves to the service of the saints;


and most of the brothers and sisters, having been made confident in the Lord by my imprisonment, dare to speak the word with greater boldness and without fear.


but though we had already suffered and been shamefully mistreated at Philippi, as you know, we had courage in our God to declare to you the gospel of God in spite of great opposition.


I hope to come to you soon, but I am writing these instructions to you so that,


You then, my child, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus;


For God is not unjust; he will not overlook your work and the love that you showed for his sake in serving the saints, as you still do.
