But the king said to him, “How many times must I make you swear to tell me nothing but the truth in the name of the Lord?”

he laid his hands on him and commissioned him—as the Lord had directed through Moses.


But Jesus was silent. Then the high priest said to him, “I put you under oath before the living God, tell us if you are the Messiah, the Son of God.”


and he shouted at the top of his voice, “What have you to do with me, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? I adjure you by God, do not torment me.”


In those days Peter stood up among the believers (together the crowd numbered about one hundred twenty persons) and said,


Then some itinerant Jewish exorcists tried to use the name of the Lord Jesus over those who had evil spirits, saying, “I adjure you by the Jesus whom Paul proclaims.”


And when this letter has been read among you, have it read also in the church of the Laodiceans; and see that you read also the letter from Laodicea.


As you know, we dealt with each one of you like a father with his children,


Take note of those who do not obey what we say in this letter; have nothing to do with them, so that they may be ashamed.


I am giving you these instructions, Timothy, my child, in accordance with the prophecies made earlier about you, so that by following them you may fight the good fight,


I urge you, as I did when I was on my way to Macedonia, to remain in Ephesus so that you may instruct certain people not to teach any different doctrine,


In the presence of God and of Christ Jesus and of the elect angels, I warn you to keep these instructions without prejudice, doing nothing on the basis of partiality.


Give these commands as well, so that they may be above reproach.


In the presence of God, who gives life to all things, and of Christ Jesus, who in his testimony before Pontius Pilate made the good confession, I charge you


As for those who in the present age are rich, command them not to be haughty, or to set their hopes on the uncertainty of riches, but rather on God who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment.


In the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who is to judge the living and the dead, and in view of his appearing and his kingdom, I solemnly urge you:


Therefore, brothers and sisters, holy partners in a heavenly calling, consider that Jesus, the apostle and high priest of our confession,
