13 We also constantly give thanks to God for this, that when you received the word of God that you heard from us, you accepted it not as a human word but as what it really is, God's word, which is also at work in you believers.

“As for the word that you have spoken to us in the name of the Lord, we are not going to listen to you.


Then Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, and Joshua son of Jehozadak, the high priest, with all the remnant of the people, obeyed the voice of the Lord their God, and the words of the prophet Haggai, as the Lord their God had sent him; and the people feared the Lord.


for it is not you who speak, but the Spirit of your Father speaking through you.


“Whoever welcomes you welcomes me, and whoever welcomes me welcomes the one who sent me.


But he said, “Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and obey it!”


Once while Jesus was standing beside the lake of Gennesaret, and the crowd was pressing in on him to hear the word of God,


“Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God.


But he said to them, “My mother and my brothers are those who hear the word of God and do it.”


You have already been cleansed by the word that I have spoken to you.


Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth.


And for their sakes I sanctify myself, so that they also may be sanctified in truth.


Therefore I sent for you immediately, and you have been kind enough to come. So now all of us are here in the presence of God to listen to all that the Lord has commanded you to say.”


When the Gentiles heard this, they were glad and praised the word of the Lord; and as many as had been destined for eternal life became believers.


A certain woman named Lydia, a worshiper of God, was listening to us; she was from the city of Thyatira and a dealer in purple cloth. The Lord opened her heart to listen eagerly to what was said by Paul.


These Jews were more receptive than those in Thessalonica, for they welcomed the message very eagerly and examined the scriptures every day to see whether these things were so.


When they heard of the resurrection of the dead, some scoffed; but others said, “We will hear you again about this.”


So those who welcomed his message were baptized, and that day about three thousand persons were added.


Now when the apostles at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had accepted the word of God, they sent Peter and John to them.


So faith comes from what is heard, and what is heard comes through the word of Christ.


And all of us, with unveiled faces, seeing the glory of the Lord as though reflected in a mirror, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another; for this comes from the Lord, the Spirit.


though my condition put you to the test, you did not scorn or despise me, but welcomed me as an angel of God, as Christ Jesus.


that has come to you. Just as it is bearing fruit and growing in the whole world, so it has been bearing fruit among yourselves from the day you heard it and truly comprehended the grace of God.


Indeed, the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing until it divides soul from spirit, joints from marrow; it is able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart.


For indeed the good news came to us just as to them; but the message they heard did not benefit them, because they were not united by faith with those who listened.


In fulfillment of his own purpose he gave us birth by the word of truth, so that we would become a kind of first fruits of his creatures.


You have been born anew, not of perishable but of imperishable seed, through the living and enduring word of God.


but the word of the Lord endures forever.” That word is the good news that was announced to you.


Like newborn infants, long for the pure, spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow into salvation—


that you should remember the words spoken in the past by the holy prophets, and the commandment of the Lord and Savior spoken through your apostles.


And all who have this hope in him purify themselves, just as he is pure.
