So Jacob served seven years for Rachel, and they seemed to him but a few days because of the love he had for her.


For to the one who pleases him God gives wisdom and knowledge and joy; but to the sinner he gives the work of gathering and heaping, only to give to one who pleases God. This also is vanity and a chasing after wind.


Many waters cannot quench love, neither can floods drown it. If one offered for love all the wealth of his house, it would be utterly scorned.


“If you love me, you will keep my commandments.


If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept my Father's commandments and abide in his love.


He said, ‘Cornelius, your prayer has been heard and your alms have been remembered before God.


Repent therefore, and turn to God so that your sins may be wiped out,


Rejoice in hope, be patient in suffering, persevere in prayer.


May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.


For whatever was written in former days was written for our instruction, so that by steadfastness and by the encouragement of the scriptures we might have hope.


but is now disclosed, and through the prophetic writings is made known to all the Gentiles, according to the command of the eternal God, to bring about the obedience of faith—

For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision counts for anything; the only thing that counts is faith working through love.


So let us not grow weary in doing what is right, for we will reap at harvest time, if we do not give up.


But Timothy has just now come to us from you, and has brought us the good news of your faith and love. He has told us also that you always remember us kindly and long to see us—just as we long to see you.


To this end we always pray for you, asking that our God will make you worthy of his call and will fulfill by his power every good resolve and work of faith,


We must always give thanks to God for you, brothers and sisters, as is right, because your faith is growing abundantly, and the love of everyone of you for one another is increasing.


and the grace of our Lord overflowed for me with the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus.


This is right and is acceptable in the sight of God our Savior,


For you need endurance, so that when you have done the will of God, you may receive what was promised.


By faith Abraham, when put to the test, offered up Isaac. He who had received the promises was ready to offer up his only son,


make you complete in everything good so that you may do his will, working among us that which is pleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be the glory forever and ever. Amen.


Let us therefore make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one may fall through such disobedience as theirs.


And thus Abraham, having patiently endured, obtained the promise.


rather, let your adornment be the inner self with the lasting beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is very precious in God's sight.


Little children, let us love, not in word or speech, but in truth and action.


Beloved, if our hearts do not condemn us, we have boldness before God;


And all who have this hope in him purify themselves, just as he is pure.


For the love of God is this, that we obey his commandments. And his commandments are not burdensome,


“I know your works—your love, faith, service, and patient endurance. I know that your last works are greater than the first.


Because you have kept my word of patient endurance, I will keep you from the hour of trial that is coming on the whole world to test the inhabitants of the earth.
