David said to the young man who had reported to him, “Where do you come from?” He answered, “I am the son of a resident alien, an Amalekite.”


David said to him, “Where have you come from?” He said to him, “I have escaped from the camp of Israel.”


And he said to me, ‘Who are you?’ I answered him, ‘I am an Amalekite.’


The righteous know the needs of their animals, but the mercy of the wicked is cruel.


Then they said to him, “Tell us why this calamity has come upon us. What is your occupation? Where do you come from? What is your country? And of what people are you?”


For judgment will be without mercy to anyone who has shown no mercy; mercy triumphs over judgment.
