Now a scoundrel named Sheba son of Bichri, a Benjaminite, happened to be there. He sounded the trumpet and cried out, “We have no portion in David, no share in the son of Jesse! Everyone to your tents, O Israel!”


When all Israel saw that the king would not listen to them, the people answered the king, “What share do we have in David? We have no inheritance in the son of Jesse. To your tents, O Israel! Look now to your own house, O David.” So Israel went away to their tents.


But Pharaoh said, “Who is the Lord, that I should heed him and let Israel go? I do not know the Lord, and I will not let Israel go.”


A soft answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.


Do not say, “Why were the former days better than these?” For it is not from wisdom that you ask this.


A fool will no longer be called noble, nor a villain said to be honorable.


The villainies of villains are evil; they devise wicked devices to ruin the poor with lying words, even when the plea of the needy is right.
