Blessed be the Lord, for he has wondrously shown his steadfast love to me when I was beset as a city under siege.


Pharaoh will say of the Israelites, ‘They are wandering aimlessly in the land; the wilderness has closed in on them.’


The enemy said, ‘I will pursue, I will overtake, I will divide the spoil, my desire shall have its fill of them. I will draw my sword, my hand shall destroy them.’


David remained in the strongholds in the wilderness, in the hill country of the Wilderness of Ziph. Saul sought him every day, but the Lord did not give him into his hand.


When Abiathar son of Ahimelech fled to David at Keilah, he came down with an ephod in his hand.


Saul summoned all the people to war, to go down to Keilah, to besiege David and his men.
