I want you to know, brothers and sisters, that I have often intended to come to you (but thus far have been prevented), in order that I may reap some harvest among you as I have among the rest of the Gentiles.

Let us then pursue what makes for peace and for mutual upbuilding.


Each of us must please our neighbor for the good purpose of building up the neighbor.


What should I do then? I will pray with the spirit, but I will pray with the mind also; I will sing praise with the spirit, but I will sing praise with the mind also.


For those who speak in a tongue do not speak to other people but to God; for nobody understands them, since they are speaking mysteries in the Spirit.


If anyone speaks in a tongue, let there be only two or at most three, and each in turn; and let one interpret.


but all things should be done decently and in order.


Have you been thinking all along that we have been defending ourselves before you? We are speaking in Christ before God. Everything we do, beloved, is for the sake of building you up.


So I write these things while I am away from you, so that when I come, I may not have to be severe in using the authority that the Lord has given me for building up and not for tearing down.


to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ,


from whom the whole body, joined and knit together by every ligament with which it is equipped, as each part is working properly, promotes the body's growth in building itself up in love.


Let no evil talk come out of your mouths, but only what is useful for building up, as there is need, so that your words may give grace to those who hear.


as you sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs among yourselves, singing and making melody to the Lord in your hearts,


Therefore encourage one another and build up each other, as indeed you are doing.
