Then afterward I will pour out my spirit on all flesh; your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, and your young men shall see visions.


And these signs will accompany those who believe: by using my name they will cast out demons; they will speak in new tongues;


And they went out and proclaimed the good news everywhere, while the Lord worked with them and confirmed the message by the signs that accompanied it.]


And see, I am sending upon you what my Father promised; so stay here in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high.”


Very truly, I tell you, the one who believes in me will also do the works that I do and, in fact, will do greater works than these, because I am going to the Father.


When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth; for he will not speak on his own, but will speak whatever he hears, and he will declare to you the things that are to come.


But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”


At that time prophets came down from Jerusalem to Antioch.


One of them named Agabus stood up and predicted by the Spirit that there would be a severe famine over all the world; and this took place during the reign of Claudius.


When Paul had laid his hands on them, the Holy Spirit came upon them, and they spoke in tongues and prophesied—


“Ananias,” Peter asked, “why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and to keep back part of the proceeds of the land?


We have gifts that differ according to the grace given to us: prophecy, in proportion to faith;


by the power of signs and wonders, by the power of the Spirit of God, so that from Jerusalem and as far around as Illyricum I have fully proclaimed the good news of Christ.


Any man who prays or prophesies with something on his head disgraces his head,


Love never ends. But as for prophecies, they will come to an end; as for tongues, they will cease; as for knowledge, it will come to an end.


Therefore, one who speaks in a tongue should pray for the power to interpret.


So, my friends, be eager to prophesy, and do not forbid speaking in tongues;


Well then, does God supply you with the Spirit and work miracles among you by your doing the works of the law, or by your believing what you heard?


Do not despise the words of prophets,


while God added his testimony by signs and wonders and various miracles, and by gifts of the Holy Spirit, distributed according to his will.


Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God; for many false prophets have gone out into the world.


“I know your works, your toil and your patient endurance. I know that you cannot tolerate evildoers; you have tested those who claim to be apostles but are not, and have found them to be false.
