Then Bathsheba bowed with her face to the ground, and did obeisance to the king, and said, “May my lord King David live forever!”


the king said to them, “Take with you the servants of your lord, and have my son Solomon ride on my own mule, and bring him down to Gihon.


The king put Benaiah son of Jehoiada over the army in his place, and the king put the priest Zadok in the place of Abiathar.


And also their neighbors, from as far away as Issachar and Zebulun and Naphtali, came bringing food on donkeys, camels, mules, and oxen—abundant provisions of meal, cakes of figs, clusters of raisins, wine, oil, oxen, and sheep, for there was joy in Israel.


When David was old and full of days, he made his son Solomon king over Israel.


On the twenty-third day of the seventh month he sent the people away to their homes, joyful and in good spirits because of the goodness that the Lord had shown to David and to Solomon and to his people Israel.


And all the people went their way to eat and drink and to send portions and to make great rejoicing, because they had understood the words that were declared to them.


And Jethro, Moses' father-in-law, brought a burnt offering and sacrifices to God; and Aaron came with all the elders of Israel to eat bread with Moses' father-in-law in the presence of God.


God did not lay his hand on the chief men of the people of Israel; also they beheld God, and they ate and drank.


There is nothing better for mortals than to eat and drink, and find enjoyment in their toil. This also, I saw, is from the hand of God;


So I commend enjoyment, for there is nothing better for people under the sun than to eat, and drink, and enjoy themselves, for this will go with them in their toil through the days of life that God gives them under the sun.


Go, eat your bread with enjoyment, and drink your wine with a merry heart; for God has long ago approved what you do.


When they come in, the prince shall come in with them; and when they go out, he shall go out.


And you shall eat there in the presence of the Lord your God, you and your households together, rejoicing in all the undertakings in which the Lord your God has blessed you.
