why it is so dark that you cannot see, and why a flood of water covers you.


Therefore let all the faithful pray to you while you may be found; surely the rising of the mighty waters will not reach them.


He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand.

To the roots of the mountains I sank down; the earth beneath barred me in for ever. But you, Lord my God, brought my life up from the pit.


The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock.
