Then David said to Nathan, ‘I have sinned against the Lord.’ Nathan replied, ‘The Lord has taken away your sin. You are not going to die.


Do not cover up their guilt or blot out their sins from your sight, for they have thrown insults in the face of the builders.


who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases,


Blessed are those who act justly, who always do what is right.


Blessed are all who fear the Lord, who walk in obedience to him.


Blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, who does not look to the proud, to those who turn aside to false gods.


As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, my God.


My heart is stirred by a noble theme as I recite my verses for the king; my tongue is the pen of a skilful writer.


Why do you boast of evil, you mighty hero? Why do you boast all day long, you who are a disgrace in the eyes of God?


The fool says in his heart, ‘There is no God.’ They are corrupt, and their ways are vile; there is no-one who does good.


Listen to my prayer, O God, do not ignore my plea;


Lord Almighty, blessed is the one who trusts in you.


You forgave the iniquity of your people and covered all their sins.


Blessed are those who have learned to acclaim you, who walk in the light of your presence, Lord.


‘Come now, let us settle the matter,’ says the Lord. ‘Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool.


‘I, even I, am he who blots out your transgressions, for my own sake, and remembers your sins no more.


I have swept away your offences like a cloud, your sins like the morning mist. Return to me, for I have redeemed you.’


Jesus replied, ‘Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by flesh and blood, but by my Father in heaven.


He replied, ‘Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and obey it.’
